Iphey, explained
Iphey gives your browser a one-word trust verdict and a score out of 100. It is quick and popular, but the verdict is easy to misread: in our test every browser we tried, including a person's everyday Chrome, was called "Unreliable".

What is Iphey?
Iphey (iphey.com) is a browser fingerprint checker. It runs a real-time test in the page, compares what your browser reports with a database of fingerprints, and summarises the result as a headline verdict ("Your digital identity looks …") and an MX score, which it describes as how trustworthy your identity looks. The page credits its fingerprinting to a library called MixVisit.
Around the main test it offers separate checks for your IP, VPN or proxy, DNS leaks, IP blacklists and bot behaviour. It is a commercial site: the page promotes partner proxy providers and anti-detect browsers, which is worth knowing when a verdict comes with a recommendation.
What Iphey checks
Browser
Which browser and version your user agent claims, and whether the rest of the fingerprint fits it.
Location and IP
Your IP address and where it geolocates, compared with what the browser says about its own time zone and language.
Hardware
Screen, GPU, CPU cores and memory, and whether they describe a plausible real device.
Software
Operating system, fonts, plugins and other software-level values, and whether they agree with each other.
How to read your Iphey result
- The headline verdict
- A summary of all sections together. It is driven heavily by the IP and location section, so a verdict you don't expect usually starts there, not in the hardware.
- "Everything is fine" per section
- Iphey found nothing inconsistent in that section. Check these lines before worrying about the headline.
- MX score
- A 0–100 trust score. Our three browsers scored between 60 and 90 and still got the same headline verdict, so read it alongside the sections, not instead of them.
What real browsers scored
Measured on 20 and 21 September 2026 on one Windows 11 PC (NVIDIA RTX 3070) on a home fibre connection in the Netherlands, with no proxy or VPN. Three browsers: a person's everyday Chrome 153 with an ad blocker, used by hand; the same genuine Chrome 153 driven by Playwright; and Clearcote 153 driven by Playwright with a fingerprint seed.

All three were "Unreliable", including the everyday Chrome used by a person. The common factor is the connection (an IPv6 home line with no proxy), not the browser. Clearcote scored highest on MX; from one run each, we would not read much into a 10-point gap.
Results that show up on normal browsers
- An "Unreliable" headline on an ordinary home connection. In our test it fired on every browser, including one used by hand.
- A browser whose time zone doesn't match where its IP geolocates. That is expected when you travel, use a VPN, or set a persona in another country; the fix is to make them agree, not to change the browser.
FAQ
Why does Iphey say my browser is unreliable?
Look at the individual sections first. In our test a normal, human-driven Chrome on a home connection was called "Unreliable" while its Hardware and Software sections both said "Everything is fine". The headline leans on the IP and location, so a mismatch there, or simply an unusual connection, is the usual cause.
What is the Iphey MX score?
Iphey's own 0–100 score for how trustworthy your browser identity looks. It is compared against Iphey's database of real fingerprints. Our three browsers scored 60, 80 and 90, and all three got the same "Unreliable" verdict.
Is Iphey accurate?
It is a useful quick look, not a ground truth. Every browser we tried got the same headline verdict, which tells you the verdict alone can't separate them. For a check-by-check explanation, run the Clearcote audit alongside it.
How do I get a better Iphey result?
Make your time zone and language match where your IP is, avoid mixing values from different devices, and don't chase the score itself. A higher number on one test site doesn't mean a site you actually use will treat you differently.
