Refund & Cancellation Policy
Version 2026-07-16 · Effective 2026-07-16
1. What this covers
This policy applies to paid Clearcote Pro subscriptions and one-time passes purchased on this website from Clearcote Labs. The free Clearcote build is open source and provided at no cost, so nothing here applies to it — there is no purchase to refund.
2. Subscriptions & billing
Clearcote Pro is a recurring subscription billed in advance, on one of two intervals you choose at checkout: monthly ($49/month) or yearly ($441 for 12 months — 3 months free versus the monthly price). Each payment covers the upcoming billing period, which for the yearly plan is a full year. You can view invoices and payment history in your dashboard.
You can also buy a one-time pass: $49 for 30 days of the same Pro access, paid once. A pass is not a subscription — it does not renew, it is never charged again, and it simply ends on its expiry date. Buying another pass extends the license you already have from its current end date; nothing is charged automatically and nothing needs cancelling.
3. Cancellation
You can cancel at any time from the billing portal in your dashboard (Manage subscription). Cancellation stops future renewals; your Pro access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not charge a cancellation fee. A one-time pass has nothing to cancel: there is no recurring charge behind it, so leaving it alone is all that ending it requires.
Because each period is paid in advance and delivered in full, cancelling partway through a period does not, by itself, trigger a pro-rated refund of that period — you simply keep access until it ends and are not billed again. On the yearly plan that period is twelve months, so cancelling in month two means Pro access through month twelve and no further charge — not a refund of the remaining ten. Switching between monthly and yearly is different: Stripe pro-rates a plan change, so what you have already paid for the current period is credited against the new one.
4. EU/EEA right of withdrawal (14 days)
If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you normally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for online purchases. Clearcote Pro is digital content and a digital service supplied immediately: by starting your subscription or pass — generating a Pro license key or downloading the Pro build — before the 14 days elapse, you expressly request immediate performance and acknowledge that you thereby lose the right of withdrawal once performance has begun, to the extent permitted by law.
If you have not yet begun using the Pro service, you may withdraw within 14 days of purchase for a full refund — just email us (see below). This paragraph does not affect any mandatory consumer rights you have under the laws of the Netherlands or your country of residence.
5. Refunds we do give
We will refund, on request:
- Duplicate or accidental charges, and clear billing errors.
- A charge where we were unable to deliver the Pro build or license at all.
- Withdrawals validly exercised under section 4.
Outside those cases, fees for a subscription period or pass already started are generally non-refundable. We may still grant a discretionary refund or credit at our reasonable judgement — if something went wrong, ask us.
6. How to request a refund
Email support@clearcotelabs.com from the address on your account, with your invoice number or the email used at checkout. We aim to respond within a few business days. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method; your bank or card network may take additional time to post them.
7. Chargebacks
If you believe a charge is wrong, please contact us first — we can almost always resolve it faster than a dispute. Filing a chargeback without contacting us may result in your account and license being suspended while the dispute is handled.
8. Changes & contact
We may update this policy; material changes are reflected by a new version number and effective date. Questions about billing or this policy: support@clearcotelabs.com. See also our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
